Retirement options
I am approaching retirement ,it's six months away, but I don't want to retire! A friend of mine retired at 52 to spend more time on the golf course but three months later he was bored to sobs so decided to go back to work. But he found it difficult to find a suitable job given his age which seemed to preclude him from job offers.

Has anyone got some advice for me?
Hi there,
I have a little experience of this due to where my father's career ended up taking him. He ended up coaching senior business people into the retirement "zone". Its such an enormous step change that affects every aspect of your mind, body and soul. In my opinion, jumping headlong into this lengthy chapter is not right for everyone. I think it is really important to retire on your own terms and we are all unique. I would recommend spending some time ascertaining what makes you tick before even thinking about putting the brakes on your career. Retirement requires more planning, forethought and self-awareness than society would have us believe. If you can find a retirement coach I think the benefits are beyond measure - the more high flying the career - the greater the need for a retirement coach.
